Outside of his managerial career, Roberto served as a studio analyst for ESPN's coverage of the FIFA World Cup, 2010 and 2014, the UEFA European Championship, 2012 and 2016 editions and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. He has also been a regular guest on Sky Sports' Spanish football programme Revista de la Liga. In addition, he has made several appearances on the BBC's Match of the Day.
