Millie Bright is an English professional footballer who is renowned for her significant role in both the Chelsea Women’s Teams and England’s national team. Having previously played for teams such as Doncaster Belles, the England under-19 and under-23s, Millie has developed her skillset throughout many different clubs and is now admired for her performance in high-pressure matches.
Naturally gifted, Millie was scouted by Sheffield United and was part of their academy until the age of 16. In 2009, she made the move to Doncaster Belles which was the first step in her professional football journey. Being on loan for Leeds Ladies allowed Millie to gain training from two teams and advanced her abilities to an incredible level which resulted in her signing for Chelsea. As a 21-year-old with vast experience playing within the FA WSL, Millie added great strength to the team and has been a large part of the teams’ achievements, including their 2018/19 victory within the league which allowed them to win the 2019/20 UEFA Women’s League Cup.
Dedicated to the national club, Millie has been part of the England team since 2011. Starting in the under-19s team, she was able to showcase her talent within multiple seasons and was selected as part of the national team five years later. Awarded her first cap in 2016, Millie has now made 60 appearances for the club and continues to remain a vital member of the team. As a part of the victorious England team who won the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022, she is highly respected for her passion and drive whilst on the pitch. Following the team's success, they received the profound Inspiration Awards at the 2022 Pride Awards. At the start of the 2023 season, Mille was selected to play as a defender in the England squad for the 2023 Women's World Cup. Named as the Interim Captain of the England squad, Millie was selected to play in seven matches for a total of 660 minutes, solidifying her stellar reputation as a player. In addition to her success as the Interim Captain, Millie was also able to assist in a goal that got England into the final of the 2023 World Cup against Spain, and was selected to start in the line-up for the final.
