The league table finally stands at Man City sitting firmly at the top with an incredible 98 points, with Liverpool in close second on 97 points and Chelsea in third on 72 points. After a triumphant win for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers, 2-0, they agonisingly fell short by one point behind league winners Man City, just missing out on the title.

Pep Guardiola has led Manchester City to their fourth Premier League title in just 7 years, joining legendary managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho as the only three football managers to have successfully achieved back-to-back Premier League titles with their teams.

Players of the Season

golden boot award

An astounding moment in history, as three players have been awarded the Golden Boot award for the first time since 1998/99. After Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang nets the ball twice during the final match against Burnley FC, he equalises with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as the top scorers for the 2018/19 season, all scoring a massive 22 goals each.

Another momentous achievement for Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker, as he claimed the 2018/19 Golden Glove award with 21 clean sheets, just beating Ederson Santana de Moraes to the award. Alisson is the first Liverpool player to win the accolade since 2007/08.

The After-Effects From This Years Season

In the aftermath of this great season, Brighton has parted ways with manager Chris Hughton after their huge defeat against Premier League champions Manchester City on 12th May, finishing 17th on the Premier League table. However, Hughton’s departure is not in vain, having been awarded Premier League’s manager of the month in March of 2018.
