English football speaker and former Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster has been playing professionally since 2006 when he graduated from Newcastle United’s Youth Team to the professional league. Forster stayed with Newcastle United for six years until he was purchased by Celtic in 2012. Forster is currently playing for Southampton.
Whilst working as a football speaker and goalkeeper for Newcastle, Forster generally played in the reserves, standing in on occasion for the team’s first choice goal keeper Tim Krul whilst he was elsewhere on loan. Beginning in 2008 Fraser Forster went out on loan himself, making appearances as a goalkeeper and sports speaker for Stockport County and Bristol Rovers. He then spent a successful season on loan at Norwich City, helping the club win the League One title and promotion to the Championship.
One of the most successful English players in Celtic’s history Fraser Forster made his first appearance for the club in 2010 whilst on loan to the Scottish team, subsequently helping them win the 2010/’11 Scottish Cup. Whilst at Celtic, Fraser frequently worked as a football speaker attending club events as well as speaking at national after dinner speaker events where he would discuss what it was like to be an English player on a Scottish team. Forster currently holds the Scottish Premiership record of 1,256 minutes without conceding a single goal.
Forster enjoyed a vastly decorated career at Celticas he was a part of a team who won three Scottish Premiership titles along with two Scottish Cuptrophies. Individually whilst at Celtic, Fraser won numerous accolades recognising his superior performances and contribution. He was named the Celtic Players’ Player of the season on two occasions, Forster was also named in a number of UEFA Champions League Team of the Weeks along with keeping the most clean sheets in the Scottish Premier League and SPL Save of the Season for the 2012-13 season. A record holder at Celtic for the most consecutive clean sheets, Forster was certainly very successful during his time with the club before leaving.
In the summer of 2014, Fraser Forster signed for Southampton and was, earlier that year, picked by England coach Roy Hodgson as part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad; despite travelling to Brazil, Forster did not feature in any of the World Cup games. Southampton’s first choice goalkeeper since he arrived and at the heart of a very successful team at the club, Forster was named Premier League player of the month in February 2016, this was recognised by England as Fraser was named in the 2016 FIFA World Cup> squad. His consistent performances despite major setbacks through injury were rewarded with a new five-year contact with the club along with a huge amount of praise from managers for his goalkeeping prowess.
